3rd Baron Baden-Powell gone home
Robert Crause Baden-Powell, 3rd Baron Baden-Powell (15 October 1936 - 28 December 2019) the grandson of our Founder Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell of Gilwell and Olave Baden-Powell sadly passed away peacefully at his home in the early hours of Saturday 28 December, 2019 after a long battle with cancer, aged 83.
The late Lord Baden Powell served the (UK) Scout Association in a number of local, national and international capacities and was Vice-President since 1985. He was chief scout commissioner from 1965 to 1982. Robert led the British contingent to the 1975 14th World Scout Jamboree at Lillehammer, Norway, was a Deputy Camp Chief for two Canadian national Jamborees (1979 and 1983) and also for the World Scout Jamboree in Canada in 1983.
His father, Peter, was the first vice-chairman in 1953 of IFOFSAG (now ISGF).
The peerage passes to his brother David Michael Baden-Powell, who is now 4th Lord (Baron) Baden-Powell of Gilwell. He and his wife are active scouters in Australia and member of the Australian Scout and Guide Fellowship.
