Successful Nordic Baltic Gathering
The 31st Nordic Baltic Gathering took place from 6 – 9 June 2025 in Tønsberg, Norway, on the small island, Husøy, in the Olsofjord. There were 75 participants from 8 countries: Denmark, Germany, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom.
Nordic Baltic Sub Region is abbreviated NBSR in International Scout and Guide Fellowship (ISGF).
During this Gathering there was a workshop where we exchanged news, ideas and experience activities that the local Fellowship has selected and planned for us.
Some examples of program items:
• Lecture on the Oslo Field. The area of special mountains that surround Oslo and the Oslo Fjord.
• Lecture on Norway's nature and biodiversity.
• Workshop in groups: What do we value as the reason why we are still in the Fellowship?
What can we do to ensure that our members are happy – and attract new ones?
• Museum where replicas of Norway's two most famous Viking ships are built.
• Boat trip to the "End of the World" National Park – café with delicious waffles and ice cream.
• Barbecue evening with campfire and songs.
• Evening ceremony in Husøy Church.
Here is a verse from one of the campfire songs that can give optimism if something goes a little wrong:
You will have a day tomorrow that is clean and unused
With blank sheets and colored pencils
And then you can correct all the mistakes from yesterday
And then you will feel so good tomorrow night
With this short report I would like to encourage everyone to participate in such gatherings, to make new friends and have good days in the international Fellowship.
In three years (2028) the next NBSR gathering will be held in Finland.
See you there - Astrid Wiig - Denmark
