Twinning between Italian and Ukrainian Scouts

MASCI, the National Scout and Guide Fellowship of Italy is committed, with other Italian scout associations, to organizing twinnings between Italian scout groups and Ukrainian scouts (PLAST). Despite the war, they managed to organize 11 twinnings for a total of about 200 Ukrainian scouts.

Although they encountered financial difficulties at the beginning of the project, they managed to cover the expenses with a nationwide fundraiser. In September they will publish in their newsletter “Strade Aperte” and on ISGF website detailed reports with photos from each campsite.

Moreover, they intend to continue to keep in touch with the Ukrainian scouts even in the winter period and prepare in time for the organization of the 2024 summer camps.

MASCI is considering the possibility of establishing an ISGF coordination of this activity at European level. They have the references of the national scout leaders of Ukraine and, while leaving the operational aspects of the twinning to the individual countries.
