A few members from Guild “Forêt de Soignes” (SGAB-OSOGB) got together and organized a one-week programme for asylum seekers children in Rixensart (near Waterloo in Belgium). Although these children go to school, they are a bit left out during the school holidays in summer.

The “deal” was to have them design the puppet show from A to Z: heads and costumes, write the script with percussions and props. The week ended with the show which was attended by parents, social workers and neighbours. It was quite a success – which made the children happy.

Other puppets made by us have enabled us to entertain some autistic pupils with various degrees of handicaps in learning and communication. This experience is positive from both sides and may be repeated next year. This is under study.
