Independence Day is celebrated annually on 15 August as a public holiday in India commemorating the nation's independence from the United Kingdom in 1947.
So this year the 77th Independence Day was very enthusiastically celebrated by state branches of the Indian Fellowships throughout the country.
Members organised welfare activities like blood donation, distribution of food articles in hospitals, organising sports competition for children, visiting old age homes and many others. Several events were organised to showcase India's progress during the last 77 years.
It was a great day for the Indians all around the world.
