Participation ISGF members Jamboree 2011
The 22nd World Scout Jamboree will take place from 27 July till 7 August 2011 in Kristianstad, Sweden, with around 40,000 Scouts expected to attend.
Many Adult Scouts and Guides would want to be at the Jamboree. Of course they can go to the Jamboree as visitors, but there are two ways in which an Adult Scout or Guide can actively participate in the event as International Service Team (IST) members. All IST members must arrive on site 25 July 2011 and can leave 8 August 2011.
The first is to be available to serve at the ISGF booth which is going to be set up at the Jamboree. A minimum of 10 adults are necessary to service the booth, but a job can be found for a few more if necessary. Good knowledge of at least one of the two official languages of ISGF – English or French – is a prerequisite.
Those who are interested can have the International Secretary of their NSGF contact World Committee member Harald Kesselheim (
who will co-ordinate the operation. Members of the Central Branch can apply through the Central Branch co-ordinator Leny Doelman (
A second way is to help at the Jamboree. This participation is conditional upon the agreement of the National Scout Organisation (NSO) of the country in question. As a matter of fact IST participants have to be included in the national contingent which is managed by the NSO. If your NSGF is a section of the NSO there should be no problem; if not, your NSGF has to conclude an ad hoc agreement with the NSO. This was happened in several countries for the 2007 Centenary Jamboree and may happen again in 2011. Again, candidates have to be fluent in either English or French.
All ISGF members pay the same fee as IST members (in 2007 the costs per person were 650 € which amount does not include your travel and personal expenses but only Jamboree participation fee and food). All IST members will be sleeping in their own tents at the IST area.
