AGM meeting April2013 1The Scout and Guide Fellowship UK held recently their first annual meeting. During a weekend members enjoyed formulating plans for the future and how best to further the aims and ideals of their organization.

The weekend also included discussion time with the opportunity for everyone to contribute ideas for the way forward. Future events both here and abroad were discussed and a gathering for next year is in planning stage.

Cape Verde 1The Fellowship “Santo Antonio” from Cape Verde invited the ISGF Chairman, Mida Rodrigues, to be present at the 40th anniversary of the Scouts of S. Domingo’s festivities and to meet with the Fellowship members.

A cultural show, an official ceremony with representatives of the government and St George’s day commemorations highlighted the Scouts anniversary of a very big group of boys and girls that are very proud of being members of the 1st group of “Associação de Escuteiros de Cabo Verde”.

Bangladesh tragedyBangladesh is exposed to significant flood, cyclone and earthquake hazards but the latest disaster that took place on 24th April 2013, 8:45 AM was another one in a row. A nine-story garment factory block collapsed in Savar about 30 KM from Dhaka city. Around 3400 people were working when the building collapsed. This was the beginning of the tragedy. 1400 wounded workers were rescued and admitted in the hospital. Many of them are suffering from fatal injury. More than 400 dead bodies were recovered while others are untraced.

Eastern gifts Curacao 2013As a project, Copernicia, the National Scout and Guide Fellowship of Curacao, had an idea to celebrate Palm Sunday as a project (Palm Sunday is the Sunday before Easter).

One of the members who belonged in the past to the Fellowship is now in a retirement home named 'Bon Wardador', which means "The Good Guardian". A plan was made and a group of nine members decided to create some Easter bunnies from washcloths and to decorate them with eggs made from real chicken eggs filled with cake.

Toys for Turkey AOn 14th December 2012, an article concerning the collection of toys for refugee children by the French Fellowship (FAAS) was issued on the ISGF website. The NGO “Aviation without Border” (ASF) had scheduled for mid-February the departure of the toys for Turkey. FAAS had thus decided to put an end on 6th February 2013 to the campaign of collecting toys
