Information about the Western Europe sub-region (WESR)
Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, United Kingdom
The Western Europe sub-regional gathering was held from 8 – 12 October 2018 in Eastbourne, England. We started our trip with some flying from Cork and some from Dublin including myself. Everything was in full swing when we arrived as it was a bit later than expected. I was greeted by my friend Jane whom I had met at my first ISGF trip to Slovakia. Throughout the first few days I was constantly surprised by friends I had made on that trip.
The 2018 sub-regional Gathering will take place in Eastbourne, England from 8 – 12 October.
All 76 participants from 12 countries had big smiles on their faces when it was time to leave on the 11th of September. They were shaking hands in scouts/guides fashion, hugging each other; they were promising to write to each other and to attend the next meeting (European Conference in Tours, France or before!). And then, there would be other occasions: a workshop or even a new European Guild Forum in Grossarl. Wonderful!
Where: The 26th West European sub-regional gathering will take place in Domein "De Westhoek" in Oostduinkerke, Belgium. Oostduinkerke is a seaside resort in the dunes in the province of West Flanders and can be reached by car. From airport Brussels or Charleroi there are trains to Panne, a place close to Oostduinkerke from where transport will be provided by the organizers.
From 25 – 29 September 2012 around 130 participants from 13 countries of sub-region Western Europe and beyond gathered at Cork, Ireland in hotel Montenotte.
The Gathering has to be part retreat, part holiday, and part business meeting - over the years it’s developed an effective ‘formula’ for meeting all these needs.
