zambia fruit trees 2On 29 April 2016 the local Guild of Lusaka of the Zambia Scout and Guide Fellowship distributed fruit trees to families in rural areas. The idea behind is to try and to encourage the rural population to value fruit trees which in turn will provide balanced nutrition and also provide some form of food security.

Most of these trees will do well under the climatic conditions prevailing in Zambia and yet most homes do not have fruit trees in their compounds.
zambia fruit treesThe Guild started this project to target communities in the rural villages with over 60 trees ranging from specifically edible fruits such as; pawpaw, guava, orange, lemon and mango.
