This year Slovakia had hosted the 22nd gathering of the three countries around the Tatra mountains in Spisská Nová Ves – Smizany, Slovakia from 27th to 30 September 2018.
On 26 November 1942 the ship Donau sailed from Oslo, Norway, with 532 Jews on board. They were sent to Auschwitz. At the same time a rescue operation was begun. Around 1000 persons – including 500 Jews – were smuggled from Oslo across the border to safety in neutral Sweden. A market gardener, Rolf Syversen, organised the action, known as Carl Fredriksens Transport. In 2013 a memorial park was opened near to the site of the market garden.
On Sunday, November 25, 2018, the section of the Paris region of FAAS (Federation of Friends and Alumni of French Scouting), the National Scout and Guide Fellowship (NSGF) in France, celebrated the Fellowship Day; with a few days late, of course, but what does it matter!
During the Good Service Awards 2018 that took place in South Australia the Silver Emu award was given to Brett Grant, former chairman of ISGF World Committee (2008 – 2011).
On Saturday, 15th September 2018, Scout and Fellowship Ghana had their Annual General Meeting (AGM). They elected a new board to manage the affairs of the Ghana Fellowship for the next three years. Delegates came from all the 10 regions of Ghana.
On the 3rd May 2018, the National Scout and Guide Fellowship of Italy, the MASCI, held a seminar on ‘Human Rights’ at the Villa Lubin in Roma. During the seminar, several prominent keynote speakers took the floor to address the institutional, the environmental and the social and economic migration while highlighting the challenges the migrants must cope with.
Members of the Fellowship of Former Scouts and Guides Malaysia (FOFSAG) collected used stamps for the ISGF Stamp Bank. On the photo they handed over these stamps to the Vice-Chairman of ISGF World Committee, Zalillah Mohd Taib who will take care of these stamps.
On May 2nd, 2018 Mr. Milod Klila, National President of the Association of the Libyan Scouts and Guides Pioneers, awarded scouting founding member Mr. Abdelgader Ghowga with the Wafa Scarf (loyalty Scarf).
On Sunday 15 April 2018, the local NSGF of Curaçao – Copernicia - held their monthly meeting. During this meeting we said goodbye to two members who served four years in the board. Four other members were welcomed with a very short but impressive ceremony.
On March 27, 2018 the Association of the Libyan Scouts and Guides Pioneers in Tripoli had a get together with the families of their beloved deceased Scouting founding members.
